Listed as a World Heritage Site for 30 years, the Palace of Versailles is one of the most beautiful achievements of French art in the 17th century. The former hunting lodge of Louis XIII was transformed and enlarged by his son Louis XIV who installed his Court and his government there in 1682. Until the French Revolution, the kings of France succeeded each other, embellishing the castle in turn.
The Château now has 2,300 rooms, spread over 63,154m2.
Come and discover or rediscover the Castle during the summer by enjoying the unique Grandes Eaux Nocturnes show taking place only on Saturday nights until September 16, 2017.
"It was a garden before it was a castle, a party before it was a garden, a night before it was a thousand suns. If you want to understand Versailles, you must first walk through its gardens."
Each year, the Grandes Eaux Musicales, the Jardins Musicaux and the Grandes Eaux Nocturnes of the Château de Versailles bring to life these exceptional gardens and fountains classified as World Heritage by UNESCO to the rhythm of Lully's music. There are 15 groves in the heart of the French garden created by Le Nôtre, 55 fountains and ponds and hundreds of statues that the Grandes Eaux promise to discover or rediscover, with family or friends!
